I learned so much on this fantastic Still life towards Abstraction course at West Dean College in West Sussex. Learning about colour, shape and form with artist Nick Bodimeade.
We had easels set up in the Orangery with great light, it was however the hottest February on record so at 21 degrees outside we had to open the windows to keep cool - In February!!.
I got exited as soon as I arrived as the boards on the easels and the sinks were good abstracts in their own right, see below.
The food and accommodation was fantastic and although the week was intence we had a good laugh too. We were not out to create any masterpieces but to draw and paint a lot to help understand the theories.
There are many art and craft courses at West Dean, click the link below for more information
I was born in Cardiff, South Wales and started my career as a darkroom technician at a leading advertising agency in Cardiff (1976 - 1982). Then moved on to be a commercial photographer for 15 years (1983 - 1998) and a picture framer for the past 21 years. Framing lot's of wonderful artwork over the years has inspired me to do more painting myself. I have always had a passion for photography and painting.
